The summit can be reached from the village Cunthel, Thekelan (Kopeng / Salatiga),Wekas (Kaponan / Magelang) or from Selo (Boyolali). Travel will be very interesting when you depart from the North point (Wekas, Cunthel, Thekelan) back via the south (Selo).
Climbing will be very enjoyable when done in the afternoon because a beautiful scenery and the many mountains that we can see on the travel.
Selo route (Boyolali):
Climbing through the District of Selo, Boyolali regency, Central Java. Selo was in the middle between Mount Merbabu and Mount Merapi, and there are also climbing route of Mount Merapi.
To climb up or down the mountain via the Selo Merbabu should take a guides. This is because many of the crossroads route that can be misleading climbers. Although later will arrive at the village, but hard to find public transport and there is no water source.
to go to Selo can be taken from Magelang or from Boyolali by public transportation.
